Job Duties
The Biology Department at Morgan State University seeks a dynamic and energetic Assistant Professor, tenure-stream, with a strong interest in research and teaching. Research strength can be across a variety of biomedical subdisciplines; however, the successful applicant should have a demonstrated strong background in genetics/genomics. Applicants must demonstrate research accomplishments with a strong trajectory of peer-reviewed publications and potential for external funding.
The successful applicant is expected to establish an independent externally funded research program, mentor undergraduate and graduate students in their research team, and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the department.
The Biology Department and the School of Computer Mathematics & Natural Sciences are on a growth trajectory in terms of research accomplishments. Faculty participate in the interdisciplinary Center for Urban Health Disparities and Innovations (https://www.morgan.edu/rcmi) and the newly founded Center for Brain Health. The university offers cutting-edge core cellular/molecular biology laboratory facilities and a brand-new OLAW-certified vivarium.
Job Duties
The successful candidate must have completed a Ph.D. or equivalent in Biology or a related field from an accredited college or university. Relevant postdoctoral training is required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Teaching experience in undergraduate courses is highly desirable.
A background in genetics/genomics is also desirable.
