Assistant Professor of Instruction and Assistant Lab Coordinator, Engineering Technology, Non-Tenure Track – Lancaster Campus

Ohio University Regional Higher Education invites applicants for the position of Assistant Professor of Instruction and Assistant Lab Coordinator for Engineering Technology. This position is a full-time/ 12-month position located at the Fairfield County Workforce Center (FCWC) for the Engineering Technology (ENGT) program.

The ENGT program provides students with experiential learning in applied learning laboratory facilities and provides a balance of technical theory and applied hands-on education. The program’s mission is to prepare students for entry into high-demand advanced manufacturing positions such as automation technician, robotics technician, plant maintenance technician, machining technician, quality technician, or electromechanical technician.

The Assistant Professor of Instruction and Assistant Lab Coordinator in ENGT will support the development and delivery of instruction of the ENGT program and courses. This includes but is not limited to credit and non-credit Automation, Robotics, Electronics, Microcontrollers, and PLC courses. This position will assist in developing curricular offerings that equip students with marketable Industry 4.0 career skills in-demand fields/subjects and industry-recognized credentials. Other duties include identification and procurement of lab materials, overseeing lab and equipment safety, planning and improvement of labs, equipment, lab layout, and minor machine maintenance. The position will also provide demonstrations to assist with student recruitment and will develop industry partnerships as needed.

The applicant will be credentialed or willing to become credentialed to train and provide certified industrial credentials to students signed up for training at the FCWC. In addition to training for industry-recognized credentials, the successful applicant will also deliver various length training classes and full-term coursework at the FCWC. Excellent interpersonal, organization, communication, and leadership skills are critical to this position.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a closely related field, and a minimum of one year of relevant industrial/advanced manufacturing experience. Direct experience developing workforce credentials and curricula. Ability to build and maintain relationships with a variety of internal and external partners. Manage and promote safety at all times.

Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Engineering Technology, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a closely related field. Five or more years of relevant industrial experience. Experience teaching both in-person and online course content is preferred. Certification in MSSC CPT+ and FANUC is preferred.
