Job Description

Supporting Housing & Residence Life, the Graphic Designer/Media Specialist is responsible for creating visual content for Housing and Residence Life. The Graphic Designer/Media Specialist work collaboratively with the department in the strategy for current and future students. With experience in both video production and photography, the incumbent in this position, will create exciting and interesting content that will engage students on marketing channels ranging from social media and digital ads, to websites, presentations, and email campaigns.

As a member of the Marketing team, this position will support the goal to deliver personalized, meaningful, and outstanding experiences to all students, prospective families, and faculty/staff in the most creative and resourceful way possible. The Graphic Designer reports to the Associate Director of Communications for Administrative Services.

Knowledge, skills and abilities

Considerable knowledge of social media, print, video, and web content, preferably in higher education or government agencies. Ability to understand historical, current, and future trends in the digital content and social media spaces. Detail-oriented approach and the ability to work under pressure; with the ability to edit according to tight deadlines, scripts, and brand guidelines; and manage multiple projects and competing priorities. Ability to work in a collaborative team setting to creatively help the team enhance its branding, social media content, and strategy, while also being self-motivated and organized.Demonstrate ability to follow directions and process routine administrative work with minimal supervision.

Level and type of experience

Considerable experience in graphic design.Considerable experience in resolving issues and concerns for internal and external clients and stakeholders.Considerable experience providing professional designs to multiple stakeholders.Some experience with capturing video of events, video production.Some experience taking professional photos.

Additional Considerations (supplemental knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience, licensure, certification)

Previous experience in Adobe Cloud and other design programs.Some experience with layout and design principles.Some experience working in a university setting.Some supervisory experience.
Extensive experience in the application of effective student-centered principles to both internal and external customers.

Conditions of Employment

Given the nature of the positions in Student Engagement & Enrollment Services that provide support to student services and/or student-centered programs, the employee occupying this position may be required to work during a university closing as directed by his or her supervisor.

Annual Salary/Hourly Rate

Salary is commensurate with education and experience and begins at $ - 44,000
