Oneonta City School District has the following anticipated vacancy for the 2024-25 school year:

  • Special Education Teacher - Elementary

Qualified candidates will possess NYS certification in Students with Disabilities B-2 or 1-6; dual certification preferred. As a Special Education Elementary Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing personalized education and support to students with diverse learning needs in our elementary school. Your responsibilities will include designing and implementing individualized instruction plans, adapting curriculum materials, and collaborating with general education teachers and support staff to ensure the academic, social, and emotional growth of all students. You will assess student progress regularly, modify instructional strategies as necessary, and communicate effectively with parents and caregivers to foster a collaborative learning environment.

Responsibilities: Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) based on student assessments and goals. Adapt curriculum materials and instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities. Provide direct instruction and support to students in small groups or one-on-one settings. Collaborate with general education teachers to facilitate inclusive classroom environments and promote academic success for all students. Utilize assistive technology and specialized instructional materials to enhance student learning. Assess student progress using a variety of formal and informal measures, and adjust instructional plans accordingly. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and behavior. Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers to provide updates on student progress and discuss strategies for support. Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and other multidisciplinary team meetings as needed. Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current on best practices in special education and support student achievement.
