Job Summary:
The College of Liberal Arts, School of Language, Culture, & Society, invites applications for a full-time (1.00 FTE), 9-month, fixed-term Assistant Professor of Teaching position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the School Head.

As an Assistant Professor of Teaching in the College of Liberal Arts, School of Language, Culture, & Society, the responsibilities of this position consist of teaching undergraduate and graduate courses related to College Student Services Administration; establishing and/ or continuing an independent and funded research program; advising graduate students; serving on program, college, and University committees; and providing professional and community service.

What You Will Need
  • A PhD in one of the following: Ethnic Studies; Women, Gender & Sexuality Studies; a related interdisciplinary field such as Indigenous Studies; Educational Leadership; Higher Education.
  • Record of scholarly practice and achievement that aligns with an R1 research institution.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of intersectionality, feminist and anti-racist educational theories and practices.
  • A successful record of research publications, prior university teaching, and a commitment to creating a compelling learning experience in undergraduate and graduate education.
  • A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.


What We Would Like You to Have
  • Professional experience in Student Affairs or related areas and settings of higher education
  • History of success in student recruiting.
  • History of success in program/curriculum development
  • A willingness and ability to teach across the School of Language, Culture, & Society’s undergraduate and graduate programs (i.e., Ethnic Studies, Women’s, Gender & Sexuality Studies )
  • Evidence of the ability to develop and maintain relationships within the student affairs community at the local, state, national, and/or international level(s).
  • Sustained engagement with minoritized communities that are underrepresented in higher education, and demonstrated ability to integrate this asset into research, service, and teaching


Working Conditions / Work Schedule
This position is located onsite in Corvallis, OR. Occasional evening and weekend work or travel may be required.
