Assistant Research Professor in Geography

The Department of Geography within the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences at Penn State, University Park, seeks to hire an Assistant Research Professor to help in the development of a new major program in Environment, Society, and Sustainability. Undergraduate course offerings in geography and sustainability will be expected to be offered. Support will be offered to develop the candidate's individual research program further. This is to be a three-year contract with the possibility for renewal following each successful annual year review and an assessment in the third year. Renewal is contingent on the successful completion of position expectations and funding support.

Teaching expectations: Three undergraduate courses in Geography each academic year. These will support our environment-society offerings and the development of our new major in Environment, Society, and Sustainability. Programmatic support of our environment-society offerings and the development of our new major in Environment, Society, and Sustainability. Your expertise in curriculum development in sustainability and environmental studies will be helpful to our program goals.

Research expectations: Support for individual research program. Expected to assist in developing a new major program in Environment, Society, and Sustainability.

Applicants must have a master's or Ph.D. in a related field including but not limited to Environment, Society, and Sustainability by appointment date and a commitment to teaching learners at all levels and from all backgrounds. Successful candidates will be prepared to teach courses in one or more of the areas listed above.
