Assistant Teaching Professor/Lecturer of Physical Therapy Assistant

Penn State Hazleton invites applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor/Lecturer of Physical Therapy Assistant. Assistant teaching professor title designates completion of terminal degree. This is a term appointment, one-year with option for renewal, 36 weeks, to begin August 5, 2024, or as negotiated.

Responsibilities:

Teach up to four courses (12 credits) each semester using traditional, in-person methods. Successful candidates will have a background in orthopedics and be able to instruct courses within the Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) program. Examples of courses include: PTA Procedures I and II, Human Musculature and Functional Anatomy, Therapeutic Exercise, and Pathophysiology. Teaching assignments may require teaching day and/or evening as needed.

In accordance with Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) criteria, successful candidates will have a minimum of three years of full-time (or equivalent) post-licensure clinical experience in physical therapy practice. In addition, the candidate will hold an active, unrestricted PT license or PTA license/certification in any United States jurisdiction and be in compliance with the state practice act in Pennsylvania.

Faculty are expected to engage in activities to stay current in the discipline, advise students and provide career guidance, participate in campus, university, and community service activities, and participate in course, curriculum, and program development.

Qualifications:

Licensed Physical Therapist or Physical Therapist Assistant with a minimum of master's degree in a related field from an accredited institution.

Campus Information:

Penn State Hazleton is one of 20 Penn State campuses state-wide. It is a student-centered, residential campus of approximately 550 students. The coursework for the first two years of more than 160 Penn State baccalaureate majors is offered, as well as 13 baccalaureate degrees, including a B.A. in Corporate Communication and 5 associate degrees.

Students and faculty at Penn State Hazleton have all the resources of a major research university at their disposal, but in a small college atmosphere. Class sizes are small, and the student/faculty ratio is low, so students can receive much individual attention.
