Education Program Specialist (Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs (DDAP) Systems Specialist)

The Edna Bennet Pierce Prevention Research Center (PRC) in the College of Health and Human Development at Penn State seeks qualified applicants for the position of Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs (DDAP) Systems Specialist (Education Program Specialist) within the Evidence-based Prevention and Intervention Support (EPIS) project. The DDAP Systems Specialist will be responsible for working in coordination with the DDAP on the continued development, refinement, and implementation of the needs assessment process for the Single County Authorities (SCA) in Pennsylvania. This will require working closely with DDAP representatives, EPIS staff, and other stakeholders to update and refine the process and prepare the materials and training for continued implementation of the systematic process within Pennsylvania. Some travel may be required.

The location of this position is flexible and can operate fully remote within the United States, fully in-person at the University Park Campus, or in a hybrid model of both in-person and remote. Standard working hours are in the Eastern time zone

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires a Bachelor's Degree or higher, plus three years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Strong project management skills, including the establishment and monitoring of project timelines, benchmarks, and resources, will be required to oversee this project successfully. The DDAP Systems Specialist will be expected to closely consult with DDAP representatives, SCA stakeholders, and internal teams to complete this project successfully.

Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Familiarity with DDAP, SCA, and county needs assessments.
  • Knowledge of drug, alcohol, and delinquency prevention.
  • Familiarity and experience with the Communities that Care community coalition model.
  • Community risk and resource assessment.
  • Evaluation and impact assessment.
  • Experience developing and delivering training and educational programs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-starter who can work independently with little supervision and also as part of a team.
  • Experience with public health, prevention, or related social/behavioral sciences data interpretation or communication is a plus.
