Job Description Summary

Responsible for delivery of packages, mail, and supplies to the extension center locations and post office on a regular scheduled basis. Driver will pick up items or mail from the extension centers and bring back mail to the main campus. Assists in the mail room with mail delivery on campus and assists in the Print Shop when necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Must have valid Maryland driver's license with one year of proficient delivery driver experience.
  • One-year related experience in print shop production preferred

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Delivers mail, packages, and supplies to extension centers and post office on a regular scheduled route according to need.
  • Follows estimated schedule and route. Schedule established by supervisor is subject to change.
  • Coordinates deliveries with Print Shop Manager and extension center managers.
  • Inspects college vehicle for safety each day prior to beginning route.
  • Assists in mail room with campus mail delivery.
  • Assists in the print shop operations, when needed and supports the production schedule.
  • Loads college vehicle with necessary items from main campus and delivers to extension centers and post office.
  • Researches and provides statistics for documents needing information regarding position statistics
  • Picks up mail and items from extension centers and post office for delivery to main campus.
  • Assists in the sorting of incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Keeps abreast of current postal regulations
  • Maintains daily driving log recording receipt of good checks and/or money orders. Operates and maintains mailroom equipment
  • Orders supplies for the mail machine.
  • Maintains records and receipts for mailing permits and postage.
  • Run monthly reports from mail machine.
  • Obtain and maintain a security clearance to access Andrews Air Force Base.
  • Maintain safe driving record.
  • Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Knowledge of print shop equipment use for product production
  • Knowledge of Prince George's County and locations of extension centers
Job Requirements

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to a, personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. Must be able to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp and some repetitive motions

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written standard English.
  • As required by the 1986 Immigration Act, be prepared to present acceptable documentation showing your identity and that you are a U.S. citizen or an alien who is authorized to work.
  • A background investigation will be conducted prior to the offer of employment. A signed authorization for the release of personal information will be required if selected for an interview.
