REACH For Uganda seeks a seasoned, highly talented leader who shares our vision and has the skills and experience to design and manage our development efforts. The DD will identify and engage prospective donors, foster relationships with current and past donors, manage special fundraising campaigns and organize fundraising events. This position requires a combination of strong leadership and interpersonal skills, organizational abilities, and a deep knowledge of fundraising techniques and strategies. REACH For Uganda has an active, working board so the DD's principle duty will be to design the fundraising plan and conduct the board members in executing the plan.
The requirements for this position include experience in executing a major individual donor campaign, success in expanding a major donor pipeline and a proven track record in fostering professional relationships with high-net individuals. The applicant should have experience with overall donor relations and communications, and the demonstrated ability to influence and engage diverse audiences and to build long-term relationships, including experience leveraging executive-level staff and volunteers to achieve fundraising success.

The person will be comfortable leading and doing hands-on work in an entrepreneurial and agile environment and will be driven by ambitious goals and outcomes. This is a full-time position reporting to the President.
Position Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising campaign, for both general and capital funding, with short and long-term goals, develop strategies for major donors and collaborate with board/staff/volunteers in executing the campaign.
- Make direct, face-to-face solicitations, and lead board and volunteer capabilities with solicitation, i.e., provide portfolio development support, strategic counsel, and help with donor communications.
- Conceptualize, analyze and monitor individual and major donor cultivation and solicitation strategies that may include face-to-face visits, direct mail, email, events and planned giving.
- Lead efforts to elevate annual giving donors to major gift level.
- Meet annual fundraising goals that will put REACH For Uganda on track to significantly increase revenues within three years, generate new revenue from diverse sources including individual donors, major giving grants, fundraising events, corporate partnerships and foundations.
Qualifications and Skills
- 5-7 years of experience in nonprofit development with a focus on individual giving. (A college degree can replace 3 years of experience.)
- A strong track record of success executing an innovative and integrated development strategy that results in significant revenue growth to the organization.
- Demonstrated experience of building donor relationships leading to soliciting one-on-one gifts, preferably of five figures or more.
- Superb interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively and concisely (both in writing and orally), and to listen as well as give advice.
- Knowledge of donor communications and outreach strategies, including the development of cultivation, stewardship and solicitation materials and resources.
- Be a self-starter with an entrepreneurial approach to tackling challenges and priorities.
- Prefer experience in international development work.
- Prefer substantial capital planning experience.
