Job Summary:
This position involves overseeing the development of both men's and women's teams, assisting in managing day-to-day operations, and fostering a positive and competitive team culture. The Assistant Coach is expected to promote academic and athletic excellence, uphold sportsmanship, and contribute to the overall success of the athletic program.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential:
  • The position requires ability to travel with the team and work on weekends and evenings. In addition, the Assistant Coach must maintain collaborative working relationships with administrators and coaches in the Athletics Department and other college offices and appropriate relationships with media members, donors, and other individuals interested in the sports program.


Compliance:
  • Knowledge of and commitment to NCAA, Conference, and Institutional policies and procedures.


Student-Athlete Monitoring:
  • Ensure a commitment to the academic success of student-athletes, including monitoring academic performance, attendance, and social behavior.
  • Provide guidance and support to student-athletes in academic and personal development, fostering a positive and supportive team environment.


Coaching:
  • Assist and implement the training plan written by the Head Coach.
  • Assist in the organization of practice and training times in coordination with other athletic department staff.
  • Assist with athlete development.
  • Run with the student-athletes 2-3 times per week.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude and willingness to develop a growing program.
  • Display flexibility and desire to work with both advanced and developing runners.
  • Exhibit a knowledge of cross-country, as well as track and field.


Meet Management:
  • Assist in the coordination of cross-country meets.
  • This position will require driving responsibility for a Regis University vehicle. Due to driving responsibilities, you must meet training and background check qualifications and comply with Regis University's Vehicle Driving policy.


Prospective Student-Athlete Recruitment:
  • Under the direction of the Cross Country Head Coach, the Assistant Coach helps to achieve enrollment goals of the Men's and Women's programs.
  • Assist the Head Coach in the recruitment of prospective student-athletes, ability to identify prospective student-athletes, assess talent, build relationships, and help guide students through the initial eligibility process.


Social Media Management:
  • Assist with program promotions and marketing.
  • Assist in managing Regis University Cross Country social media platforms.


Fundraising & Community Service:
  • Assist in organizing and implementing the team's fundraising initiatives.
  • Assist in organizing and implementing the team's community service activities.
  • Foster positive relationships with alumni, parents, and the broader community to support the program.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree


Experience:
  • Previous experience as high school and/or college coach and/or a strong background as an athlete is preferred.
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license, and open to transport the team as needed.
