Position Summary
The Department of Microbiology & Immunology in the Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine & Science invites applications for a full-time Research Technician. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform various laboratory tasks including buffers preparation, autoclaving, restocking, cell culture and laboratory cleanup.
- Conduct supervised experiments, maintain lab books, and analyze/report data.
- Perform a variety of techniques and assays including DNA/RNA prep, genotyping, PCR, ELISA, Western blot, cloning, culturing bacteria, tissue culture experiments, and cell line maintenance. Experience with animal (mice) handling and injections.
- Must achieve satisfactory results from a background check
- Compliance with the current COVID19 vaccination policy
- High school diploma or GED.
- Prior work in research laboratory.
- Work requires knowledge of biology and a few experimental procedures
- Good communication skills desired (both verbal and written).
- The willingness to train in the handling of laboratory animals.
- Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Proficiency in common computer programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Undergraduate degree
- Experience in lab research (cell biology) work and handling mice.
- Selected candidate must have the mental and physical capabilities to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
