Southwell - With two hospitals, four ambulatory surgery centers, and more than 30 physician practices, Southwell is a growing network of care serving South Central Georgia. Tift Regional Medical Center (TRMC), the flagship hospital for Southwell, is a 181-bed regional referral center offering signature services in surgery, cardiovascular care, oncology, women's health, musculoskeletal care, and more. Southwell comprises of TRMC and the TRMC West Campus in Tifton, Southwell Medical in Adel and numerous clinics and outpatient centers located throughout the region.

We are seeking a full-time, board-certified/board eligible, hospital-employed Medical Director for our anesthesia service line.

Practice Overview:

  • 6 Anesthesiologists
  • 15 CRNAs
  • Call 1:6 @ Home Call; ~5-6 Days/Month
  • 1 NP at the hospital
  • Weekday Call: 7 am - 7 am
  • Weekend Call Friday, 7 am - Mon, 7 am
  • Post-Call Days Off
  • Weekend Coverage 1 MD; 2 CRNAs
  • Dedicated CRNA OB Coverage 7a-7 p
  • 8 ORs at main hospital (TRMC), usually runs 6-7 rooms/day
    ~ 30 cases/day
  • 2 ORs at Orthopedic ASC (1-2 CRNAs, 1 MD)
  • 1 OR Urology ASC
  • 2 Endoscopy Rooms at TRMC, EGDs, Colonoscopies ~20-25/day
    ~50 cases/day (OR, OB & Endo cases)
  • 40% Endo
  • 35% General Surgery
  • 20% Complex Ortho
  • 5% OB (C-section and Epidurals)

The employed physician is responsible for delivering quality medical care to a varied patient population. Provides guidance to PA's, NP's, RN's, LPN's and any other licensed staff in the clinic or hospital setting. Is accountable for patient care performed by her/himself and those under his/her guidance. Promotes and coordinates team work with Advance Practitioners' and other associates; interfaces effectively with other departments; receives supervision from the SVP of Ambulatory Services and Medical Director. Qualifications include current physician licensure and being credentialed as a member of the medical staff by TRHS. Provides superior customer service to patients, patients' families, visitors, co-workers, and other medical non-medical persons. Must adhere to the TRHS Compliance Program, Standards of Behavior and TRHS policies and procedures, HIPAA Privacy and Security Initiatives.

Medical Director is responsible for overall supervision and direction of Anesthesia Service Line. Physician must assure that Anesthesia Services and Pain Management Services are delivered in a manner such that established production, efficiency, throughput, quality and compliance benchmarks are met. Provided, however, day to day oversight of Anesthesia Services efficiency, quality and compliance and oversight of OR throughput is provided by the Chief of Anesthesia.

Medical Director will also be required to fall in call rotation and cover clinical shifts as the other anesthesiologists.
