AREA COORDINATOR

St. Ambrose University, known for its strong emphasis on academic excellence, service-learning, and community engagement is seeking a highly motivated and student-centered individual to join our Residence Life team as an Area Coordinator. This full-time, 12 month, live in (must live in campus housing) position is responsible for the overall management and supervision of a designated residential area on campus, fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive living environment conducive to student success and personal development.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage a residential area of approximately 330-450 total residents and assist with the leadership and administration of all areas related to housing/residence life for campus population of over 1,500.
  • Manage student staff selection, training & supervision, (direct supervision of 9-15 student staff members.()
  • Central office responsibilities and on-call duty, managing student conduct and programming
  • Assisting with one or more aspects of the summer programs: camps, conferences, orientation, resident housing, and supervision of Summer Housing Assistants.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of Bachelor's degree or four years of experience in area of responsibility. Master's preferred.
  • Previous experience working in residence life or student affairs, with demonstrated knowledge of best practices in residential education and student development.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse populations and build meaningful relationships.
  • Experience supervising and mentoring student staff members, preferably in a residential setting.
  • Knowledge of student conduct processes, crisis management protocols, and emergency response procedures.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
