The Division of Sport Management at St. John's University in Queens, New York, USA is seeking applications to fill a new, full-time, tenure-track appointment as an Assistant Professor of Sport Management commencing September 1, 2024.

The Division of Sport Management delivers a BS in Sport Management as well as a Master of Professional Studies (MPS) in Sport Management. Faculty focus on preparing students for careers in sport, esports, coaching, recreation and related fields. An emphasis on career and employment readiness is essential for Sport Management majors. Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to undertake teaching (three to four classes per semester), research, service and student engagement activities. Research productivity is important, but secondary to teaching excellence and a strong commitment to student engagement. Division faculty are expected to participate in academic advisement, student mentoring, academic assessment, and other activities as required by the Chair and/or Dean.

Qualifications

Ideal candidates will possess a doctorate in sport management, have experience teaching sport management classes as the instructor of record, and exhibit evidence of or the potential for research productivity. The area of expertise for this position is open, but there is a strong preference for candidates with teaching and research experiences in areas where existing full-time faculty do not currently have expertise. Candidates should be familiar with technology-supported learning pedagogy (e.g., online learning, Canvas LMS) and be able to integrate technology into their teaching pedagogy.

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual salary range for this position is $80,000 - $85,000.
