Associate Director of Alumni Career Services

Associate Director of Alumni Career Services

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Senior Director of Alumni Relations, this individual will provide career support to young alumni, alumni in career transition, and alumni looking for ad hoc resources and services.


Essential Functions:

  • Provide individual and group counseling sessions when appropriate

  • Develop career programming that may include, but is not limited to workshops, panels, speakers, and presentations

  • Partner with student career services offices on events and programs

  • Identify a marketing strategy to notify alumni about these resources

  • Develop and maintain online and print resources

  • Develop and maintain proactive relationships with key stakeholders including undergraduate students, undergraduate student leaders, alumni, administrators, faculty, and employers

  • Update alumni employment data

  • Assist with existing career-focused events such as the Day on Wall Street, the Alumni Insider's View (AIV) program, and our corporate affinity group receptions

  • Identify alumni success stories to feature in communications (e-newsletter, magazine, etc.)

  • Work with the Assistant Director of Young Alumni and Student Engagement to identify the career needs of this constituency

  • Regularly seek out the latest information and trends in career services, including keeping pace with developments at peer and aspirant schools to gain insights and ideas for improvement.

  • Remain industry-current on recruiting and hiring practices, employer needs, international student issues, desired academic qualifications, external certification requirements, current events, and other trends affecting graduate program hiring.

  • In tandem with the Senior Director, establish and manage the budget and its use

  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printers, etc.


Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand for periods of time; move about; sit; to carry work and use controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; communicate; and must occasionally lift or move up to 25 - 50 lbs.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. including some nights and weekends. Ability to work longer hours when required.


Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of related career services experience, or a combination of equivalent education and experience

  • Candidate must possess a current driver's license


Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years related advancement or career services experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience


In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual salary range for this position is $75,000 - $80,000. St. John's University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.

This position may be relocated to any of St. John's University's physical locations at any time.
