Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of Compensation Administration, the Compensation Analyst I is responsible for position management, salary analysis, contracting, job evaluation, retrieving and entering information into the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and approved external data portals, and managing workflow. Is a trusted partner to leaders within the College by balancing everyday service excellence and long-term priorities.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Performance Requirements
  • Creates new position identification numbers (PID), maintains existing PIDs, maintains position management records in the HRIS and tracking spreadsheets, and assists with year-end PID reconciliation, budget mapping, and entry
  • Evaluates salary for new hires, internal changes, temporary assignments, equity analyses, and reclassifications consistent with the Salary Schedule, Interim Pay Guidelines, internal equity, external market data, policies, and practices of the College
  • Creates contracts for new appointments and renews incumbent contracts each new academic year
  • Assists with job description evaluations for consistency, clarity, and alignment to College policy and practice as well as exemption status under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)
  • Leverages the HRIS to report information, evaluate data, and perform updates as needed
  • Monitors inbound information streams, enters information into online and Excel tracking systems to assist in managing the workflow, and answers customer questions
  • Gathers data and reports information internally and to approved salary surveys
  • Interacts with leaders to explain and educate about compensation philosophy, policy, procedure, and practice
  • Helps to ensure College compliance with Federal and State laws, including reporting requirements
  • Leads special projects and assists other team members on higher-level compensation projects and tasks
Service Excellence
  • Participates on behalf of the College in external community organizations and associations as assigned to support the essential performance requirements
  • Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite, sometimes including nights, weekends, or holidays during peak demand seasons
  • Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through the Tarrant County College
  • Supports the values of the College: diversity, teaching excellence, student success, innovation, creativity, and service to the College
  • Supports the mission, values, goals, and principles of the College
Supervision

Works under the general supervision of the Director of Compensation Administration

Required Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and one (1) year's working experience related to the Essential Performance Requirements; or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and certification
Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree in Human Resources, Business, Statistics, Organizational Behavior, Sociology, Psychology, or related field
  • Experience working in higher education
  • Experience using Human Resources (HR) information systems such as Colleague
  • Current WorldatWork Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) Certification
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of position management practices
  • Knowledge of compensation policies and practices
  • Skilled in excellent customer service and interpersonal relationships with diverse populations
  • Skilled using HRIS applications and enterprise systems, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in an environment and a setting that is diverse and urban
  • Ability to think critically to effectively solve and communicate problems in a fast-paced environment where the demands for work are varied, and unpredictable in scope and volume
  • Ability to analyze internal and external data to provide sound recommendations based on policy, procedure, practice, and existing regulations
  • Ability to delegate work appropriately to faculty and staff to meet College and campus deliverables

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
