Job Summary:

The Assistant Director for Athletics Communications is responsible for supporting the TCU Athletics Communications office by assisting with social media strategies for assigned sports, establishing positive relationships with coaches of assigned sports, department personnel and media, coverage of home events, travel with assigned sports, website updates, managing various office publications, maintaining statistical information, coordinating media requests and supervision of student interns.

Duties & Essential Job Functions:

1. Runs social media for accounts of assigned sports and develops strategies for year-round content.
2. Prepares information for social media and other platforms by creating copy; reviewing copy for correct use of grammar, punctuation, and spelling; improving clarity; checking for readability, style, and agreement with TCU policy; arranging for photography and video for social media, publication and archival purposes.
3. Creates, edits, and updates content for various online and printed pieces.
4. Manages projects by establishing deadlines, arranging for technical assistance, determining formats; coordinating actions.
5. Manages game day communications operations for assigned sports by coordinating media activities and working with other department personnel involved in the process.
6. Provides website maintenance for assigned sports.
7. Promotes TCU Athletics by facilitating interview, photo, and statistical requests from local, regional, and national media outlets.
8. Maintains and reports statistics to coaches, the Big 12 conference office and NCAA; compiling and organizing archival material.
9. Accomplishes office staff job results by assisting in training new employees and student workers; scheduling and assigning duties for student interns; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results for student workers.
10. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree.
• 2 years of experience in a collegiate athletics communications environment.

Preferred Education & Experience:

• Knowledge of NCAA rules.

Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:

• Valid Driver's License.
• Must be insurable under the university motor vehicle requirements.

• Knowledge of athletics communications techniques.
• Knowledge of organizational and problem solving skills.
• Knowledge of customer service techniques.
• Knowledge of interpersonal communications and presentation techniques.
• Skill in In Design, Adobe Photoshop, Stat Crew and SIDEARM website maintenance.
• Skill in strong oral and written communication techniques.
• Skill in graphic design and video.
• Ability to train and lead staff.
• Ability to research and analyze statistical data.
• Ability to evaluate and make recommendations to improve operations.
• Ability to prioritize.
• Ability to work independently and on a team.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations):

• Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
• Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
• Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
• Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
• Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 10 lbs.

Work Environment:

• Work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
• This role is an on campus, in-person position.
