SALARY: $54,522 - $104,104 (DOE/E)

Position Objective: This position is responsible for teaching a Career and Technical Education (CTE) program that meets the Washington State Frameworks and Thorp School District approved guidelines. The CTE teacher will instruct students in graphic arts, emphasizing collaboration with other CTE teachers to integrate cross-disciplinary skills and knowledge into the Art curriculum.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: * Teach and develop curriculum and evaluate student progress toward attainment of learning objectives. * Demonstrate knowledge of and ability to use research-based principles of effective instruction. * Oversee student behavior in a classroom setting, applying behavior management systems; act as a model to demonstrate appropriate behavior; reinforce positive behaviors; discipline students as authorized. * Organize the instructional program to provide for individual differences. * Maintain appropriate individual student records. * Establish and communicate to students and parents clear grading standards; evaluate each pupil’s growth, and provide timely and accurate feedback/documentation to students, parents, and appropriate staff members. * Provide for the personal and social growth of students. * Promote an understanding of the District’s and program’s educational goals with parents through participation in parent conferences and other related activities. * Engage in activities which promote personal professional growth. * Work collaboratively with other staff members and administrators to improve the educational program. * Work collaboratively with other staff members and administrators to meet the needs of special education students, including assistance for students with adaptive equipment/assistive technology and behavioral needs. * Provide academic guidance and counseling for students. * Provide support and academic guidance to highly capable students. * Fulfill other responsibilities as assigned by the program administrator.

- OVER – MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Ï Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsement(s) and/or meet the highly qualified standards in the grade level and/or subject area in which the teacher is assigned. Ï Possess or qualify for immediate issuance of State of Washington Career and Technical Education Certificate with specific endorsements. Ï Possess a First Aid/CPR card. Ï Verify 2,000 hours of non-teaching occupational experience in the Graphic Arts program area in the past 10 years. Ï Employee is frequently required to talk, hear, stand, walk, sit, or use hands and fingers, and is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Ï Ability to articulate and implement State of Washington Essential Academic Learning requirements and State of Washington Common Core Standards to produce significant student learning. Ï Demonstrates ability to work successfully with age appropriate student, staff and multi-cultural community. Ï Demonstrates classroom management procedures that provide for large and small groups, and individuals. Ï Establish routines and provide for an environment of learning. Ï Familiarity with developmental needs of elementary and middle school students.
