The Longmeadow Adult Services Department is seeking a FT Adult Services Outreach & Volunteer Coordinator: 35 hours per week. The position is responsible for assessing the needs of seniors in the community and developing responsive programs, and engaging in networking and outreach for resources, while following programmatic compliance measures.

Successful candidate must have:

  • Knowledge of relevant Massachusetts General Laws related to essential functions. Knowledge of senior specific needs and ability to work with the population. Knowledge of available benefits and resources for seniors. Ability to listen to specific needs of seniors to meet their level of need. Knowledge of fuel assistance and SNAP programs. Knowledge of relevant Massachusetts General Laws related to essential functions. Working knowledge of the resources and services available to seniors and caregivers on a local, state, and federal level. Knowledge of Council on Aging regulations, policies, programs, and operations; knowledge of office management principles and practices and computer systems and equipment used by the department.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage conflict. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to maintain good public relations and to maintain effective collaborative working relationships with Town departments, department heads, fellow employees, officials, outside agencies, and the general public and to respond in a courteous and professional manner. Ability to meet deadlines. Ability to work independently. Ability to schedule calendar events for the purpose of members attending a wide variety of activities and events. Ability to demonstrate empathy and understanding of issues affecting elderly.
  • Strong communication skills, problem-solving skills and customer service skills. Understanding of how to remain safe in an unknown environment for performing home visits.

Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services or related field, and 3 to 5 years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, certification, and experience.  Driver's license required

  • Salary $27.69 per hour DOE/DOQ
  • County Pension and Excellent Benefits
