Working Foreman

The Longmeadow Department of Public Works is seeking a FT Working Foreman: 40 hours per week. The Working Foreman position is responsible for supervising and working with small work crews involved in construction, repair and maintenance of water and sewer systems, highway and drain systems and similar public works projects.  Work includes directing and assisting work crews, ensuring for the quality and completeness of work performed and assisting in the overall efficiency of project operations.

Successful candidate must have:

• Knowledge of Public Works operations and maintenance problems; repair and replacement of water, sewer and storm facilities; and repair and reconstruction of streets, curbs and sidewalks.
• Ability to supervise work crews; perform work efficiently and safely; document work completed; track materials; and read prints and/or plans.
• Have strong communication and leadership skills, and have proficient computer skills (i.e. portable tablet).

A candidate for this position should have a High School diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of experience in public works construction and maintenance or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Supervisory experience desirable.  A candidate for this position must obtain and maintain a valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with air brake and tanker endorsement and a valid MA Hoisting License.

• Salary $23.27 per hour DOE/DOQ
