Responsibilities

  • Performs procedures for testing or analysis on specimens submitted to the laboratory.
  • Evaluates test results for accuracy and submits results for the purpose of aiding the physician in diagnostic and therapeutic treatment of patients.
  • Recognizes unusual results and/or abnormalities and takes prompt and appropriate action to assure the accuracy and validity of test result

Education
Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or an appropriate biological/chemical/medical science from an accredited college or university.

Licensure/Certification
Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP), American Medical Technologist (AMT), or United States Department of Health, Education and Welfare (HEW). New Graduates or candidates with no prior experience must obtain a certification in clinical laboratory sciences or laboratory specialty within the first six (6) months from date of hire.
