Job Overview

Provide professional planning services for all faculty new hires spaces including creating new ‘wet' labs, computational labs, classroom spaces, and offices. Responsibilities include providing the same services for all remodeling, refreshes and expansions to all labs and other spaces.

Essential Functions
  • Develop moderate to complex projects using existing, newly acquired, and redesigned spaces. This includes analyzing and selecting appropriate spaces based on availability and integrating that into a larger scale plan. The function will also include cost estimation based on the specific needs of the designated space.
  • Will have either shared or full responsibility for design and execution of laboratory projects – both ‘wet' and ‘computational' for the College's academic and research facilities.
  • Maximize space utilization while also anticipating and planning for future growth as part of all space considerations.
  • Research and assess unique equipment requirements including lab specific needed components such as
  • electrical, HVAC, structural, chilled water, etc.
  • Assist with budget documentation including routine interactions and negotiations with the Financial Office, the Department heads, and grant based project questions.
  • Contribute to project overall design and specific laboratory layouts including planning for all safety compliance requirements unique to each space in conjunction with the Health & Safety group.
  • Project scope work for Facilities includes completion of all needed documentation, the needed supervision through job completion, and a plan for routine post occupancy follow up.
  • Develop and/or apply a system for all projects that will include scheduling, timetables, tracking,
  • deliverables and include measurables and accountability.
  • Collaborate with all Facilities staff with the goal of the entire team achieving all department initiatives on time.
  • May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).

Required Education

Bachelor's degree

Nine (9) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

Required Experience

Four (4) years of related experience.
