Job Description
Assumes responsibility for assisting in the administration of the University's flexible benefit and leave programs. Processes the administrative functions associated with employee benefit actions, including new hires, qualifying events, leaves of absence, and terminations or retirements. In all actions, assumes responsibility for adherence to federal and state laws as well as University policies and procedures as they relate to the human resources function. Performs all duties in full support of the University's mission, understanding that the positive and effective execution of these duties are instrumental to the education of the University's students.

Description of Key Responsibility: Serves as a primary liaison in multiple aspects of leaves of absence, Workers’ Compensation and disability insurance claims. Working with the appropriate parties, provides guidance on processes, ensures completion of required documentation, recording of absences, and continued follow-up is completed. Acts as a liaison between the supervisor, employee and insurance carrier when appropriate. Adheres to all federal and state laws including, but not limited to, CT Paid FMLA, Federal FMLA and ADA.


Description of Key Responsibility: Provides guidance regarding the University’s flexible benefits program including, but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, short and long-term disability and life insurances, pre-tax health savings accounts and 403(b) retirement plans. Serves as a liaison between the employee and the insurance carrier when necessary and/or appropriate. Supports compliance efforts related to the ERISA, FMLA, COBRA, HIPAA and the ACA as well as other federal and/or state mandates regarding access and reporting requirements.


Description of Key Responsibility: Ensures the timely completion of personnel actions affecting University employees including, but not limited to, benefits, deductions and/or other related transactions involving the HR function affected by new hire enrollments, terminations, and COBRA administration. Maintains timely and accurate data on both internal systems and the Banner database in compliance with established data integrity standards.


Description of Key Responsibility: Performs other related duties as assigned.



Formal Education:
Bachelor’s Degree required.

Work Experience:
Normal office situation. Requires travel, excluding overnight stays.
