Nursing Skills Lab and Simulation Coordinator


Job Description
Assumes responsibility for oversight and management of the nursing laboratory and for providing a broad range of educational, technical and managerial functions to support the teaching and learning activities of nursing students and faculty. Collaborates with faculty to develop and implement simulations, coordinating and supervising skills practice and review sessions, managing space, equipment, supplies, and other laboratory resources. Assumes responsibility for adherence to federal and state laws as well as University policies and procedures, and safety protocols. Supports energy conservation efforts. Performs all duties in full support of the University's mission, understanding that the positive and effective execution of these duties are instrumental to the education of the University's students.

Description of Key Responsibility: Develops and updates lab guidelines as necessary and/or appropriate. Coordinates scheduling of activities for all of the laboratory space collaborating with clinical course coordinators each semester. Maintains and annually revises a manual of laboratory policies and procedures. Participates in strategic planning regarding lab space design, space utilization, and skills lab equipment. Assumes responsibility for orienting students and faculty to lab resources and use of equipment. Facilitates the efficient utilization of lab space, including collaborating with faculty where there are competing demands for space/equipment. Continually monitors and evaluates functionality and feedback of the skills laboratories experiences for both faculty and students.


Description of Key Responsibility: Manages skills laboratory resources to facilitate learning and safe practices in the skills lab. Oversees physical resources, including organization and operation of equipment, supplies, space and other resources in lab. Maintain equipment inventory and a storage protocol, coordinating the procurement and re-supply of consumable lab supplies/equipment within the framework of a balanced budget. Researches and makes recommendations to the college regarding lab equipment and supply purchases in an effort to ensure prudent financial management. Participates in the development of the skills lab budget, actively maintaining and reviewing budgetary projections against operating results, identifying potential discrepancies and proposing possible recommendations to the college. Develops budget reports for use within the programs as necessary. Oversees the enforcement of lab services and record keeping policies. *


Description of Key Responsibility: Establishes, cultivates and maintains effective working relationships with internal and external constituencies in the development of innovative solutions to improve the educational learning experience of students.

Formal Education:
Master’s Degree required. Master’s of Science in Nursing required. Prefer recent clinical nursing experience and experience in medical-surgical nursing.
