Job Summary
The Associate Vice President of Philanthropy ( AVP) at the University of Kentucky is a leadership position that will drive the institution's philanthropic efforts to the next level. As a key player in the dynamic field of development strategy, principal gift fundraising, and donor relations, the AVP will work collaboratively with academic deans and unit leaders to oversee fundraising initiatives within the four largest and highest producing units within the University. Responsible for leading a team of 40 advancement professionals, the AVP will have significant influence on the strategic direction for University-wide fundraising, particularly after the success of the historic $2.1 billion Kentucky Can campaign. The ideal candidate is expected to bring a track record of success developing and leading best-in-class teams and a commitment to fostering a culture of collaboration, transparency, and innovation within the philanthropy and alumni engagement spheres.
The AVP will manage principal gift strategy, working closely with the President, Vice President for Philanthropy, and other senior leaders to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors capable of making gift commitments of $5 million or more. The position involves managing academic college philanthropy officers, including responsibilities for hiring, coaching, setting standards, and performance evaluation.
This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with experience in navigating complex organizations, comprehensive fundraising planning, and advancing diversity and inclusion within the context of philanthropy.
