Required Education

  • Experience working in leadership positions in P-12 public schools
  • Experience leading grant-funded projects
  • Experience leading educator professional development
  • Experience teaching courses at the graduate level
Required Related Experience
  • National reputation in leading educational improvement efforts toward Deeper Learning models
  • Demonstrated experience leading school-based professional development
  • Successful experience working in a university center or interdisciplinary institute
  • Demonstrated experience in curriculum design, assessment, and continuous improvement at the higher education level
  • Demonstrated experience teaching online courses
  • Successful experience partnering with a state department of education.

The Center for Next Generation Leadership at the University of Kentucky College of Education seeks a new Executive Director. The Center is amongst the primary outreach mechanisms of the College of Education and works closely with Kentucky schools throughout the Commonwealth to upgrade public education systems to reimagine the learner experience of every student.

Annually the Center's work impacts hundreds of Kentucky educators through professional development and hundreds of Kentucky students through the Next Gen Scholars Dual Credit program. The Center recently completed an Impact Report which articulates the mission, history, major initiatives, and revenue sustainability. The Center has 6 full-time staff and several part-time staff that will report to the Executive Director position. The Center is financially self-sustaining through a variety of mechanisms and the Executive Director position will work to maintain and expand the financial health of the Center.

The Center exists within the College of Education and reports to the College Dean's office through the Senior Associate Dean for Academic Programs and Partnerships. The Clinical professor position, depending on the candidate, will also teach courses in the Department of Educational Leadership Studies as a Clinical Faculty member (rank to be determined on qualifications). Courses may include those in the Graduate Certificates in Instructional Coaching and Leadership for Deeper Learning, as well as courses throughout the school principal program.

The Position will:
  • Lead all operations for the Center for Next Generation Leadership (Center), assuring its success and financial viability
  • Provide primary leadership and implementation of high-quality professional development for Kentucky educators
  • Collaborate with Center Directors to fortify existing programming including, but not limited to, leadership of:
    • ChangeMakers Teacher Continuing Education Option
    • Next Generation Scholars Dual Credit at UK
    • Professional Development for Leaders and Teachers
    • Intermediary Partnerships with State Government and School Districts
  • Work with Center and College personnel to seek out and develop new partnerships and funding opportunities consistent with the mission and vision of the Center
  • Seek and manage external grants and sponsored projects
  • Evaluate the ongoing work for the Center to assure quality and alignment with the vision and mission
  • Liaise with College of Education and UK administration to provide for the successful flow of approvals and support, including facility needs, staff hiring and ongoing support, contract/MOU approvals, and other needs
  • Maintain a productive and collaborative working culture at the Center
  • Provide mentoring, guidance, and evaluation of Center Directors
  • Supervise the operational staff to continue smooth operations of financial management, event management, and project support
  • Explore the development of an Advisory Board to grow the impact and work of the Center
  • Work closely with the Dean's Office of the College of Education to assure reporting of Center activities and overall beneficial relationship with the College
  • Explore opportunities for collaboration in Center activities beyond Kentucky with related organizations
As a Clinical Faculty member in Educational Leadership Studies:
  • Teach professional program courses as assigned in EDL's Masters and EdS programs.
  • Support professional program students through advising and student committee assignments.
  • Serve on departmental administrative committees and otherwise contribute to the success of the Department's objectives.
