The College of Health Sciences – Department of Public Health at the University of Missouri (MU) – Columbia invites applications for two tenure-track (TT) faculty positions at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor with advanced training in epidemiology.
The Department is interested in applicants with research and teaching interests in any focus area of epidemiology, including but not limited to health promotion, veterinary/infectious disease epidemiology, quantitative epidemiology (computational, geospatial), zoonoses, rural health, health equity, one health, or community-engagement. Candidates should demonstrate publication and funding record, teaching, and leadership within the fields of epidemiology commensurate with stage of career.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: The candidate must possess a Ph.D. in epidemiology, public health, biomedical informatics, or a related field by the time of appointment.
Successful candidates will have excellent opportunities to learn and build their careers over time in a collaborative environment and improve the impact of their research and teaching. Successful candidates are expected to develop a strong extramurally funded research program to sustain independent and collaborative research, teach undergraduate and graduate courses in epidemiology, mentor and support undergraduate and graduate students, and engage in university and disciplinary service.
Anticipated Hiring Range
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience of the applicant.

The Department of Public Health in the College of Health Sciences at the University of Missouri offers a Bachelor of Public Health (BPH) and a Master of Public Health (MPH) with emphases in Health Promotion and Policy, and Veterinary Public Health. The MPH is jointly administered with the MU College of Veterinary Medicine. The MPH is offered in-person and online. The Department is home to the Center for Health Policy and Missouri Cancer Registry. PhD students currently acquire training through the Health and Rehabilitation Sciences program in the College of Health Sciences; our expectation is to develop our own PhD program in the coming years. Faculty conduct research in a variety of areas including health equity, zoonoses, global public health, wildlife disease epizootiology, community engagement, one health, and more. The Department continues to grow and is developing plans to expand to a School of Public Health.
The MU College of Health Sciences (CHS) is the University of Missouri system's only school of health professions and the state's only public health program located on a health sciences campus. Its mission is to improve the health and well-being of others. With programs in rehabilitation, diagnostic and imaging sciences, public health. and social work, graduates of CHS fill critical roles in health care. The school also hosts a satellite program of the University of Missouri-Kansas City College of Pharmacy.
Health professions account for more than 60 percent of the total U.S. health care workforce. Jobs in health professions are projected to grow at least through 2026, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The school is an important member of the University of Missouri Health System. Other members include the Sinclair School of Nursing, the School of Medicine, University Hospitals and Clinics and University Physicians.
