Job Description

Summary

Construction Services is an integral part of the Facility Operations department, performing small to mid-sized construction projects ranging from new construction to interior renovations, along with replacement of streets and sidewalks and employing a wide range of trades to support Mizzou's nearly 300 facilities.

We are seeking an individual to join our team as the Project Manager for Construction Services. The primary focus of this position is to manage all in-house projects initiated through the Construction Services Department. This position will review requested projects, ensure proper quotations are provided to the client and follow the project from initiation to completion, ordering materials and equipment, hiring outside contractors and ensuring a successful outcome. This position will be a main point of contact for the client and will also be responsible for all projects within various departments at the University, as assigned.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee construction projects within the Construction Services department. Work with our in-house Design Services team, architects, engineers, and trades professionals to develop plans, create a project time frame, distribute resources, obtain proper permits and licenses and ensure timely completion of each project.

Work with accounting to ensure accuracy of expenditures and project closeout, approval of contractor payment vouchers throughout the construction process.

Work with procurement to obtain bids and follow proper purchasing procedures.

Obtain necessary permits, approvals, and other regulatory prerequisites.

This position may be assigned as the main point of contact for departments across the University for a wide range of projects, regardless of the involvement of the Construction Services department.

Evaluate progress for all assigned projects and prepare detailed reports. Must have the ability to prepare and maintain a five-year capital plan for all areas assigned, providing estimated project amounts and indicating funding sources.

Engage with outside contractors to contribute to an established project or complete projects, as needed.

Ensure adherence to all building, health and safety standards and resolve issues as they arise.

Issue progress updates as needed regarding costs and timelines.

This position will work closely with the Project Manager for Facility Operations, and our Planning Design and Construction department, collaborating on projects and assisting with duties, as requested.

7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Monday through Friday

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 6 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

Must maintain a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, to include Excel and have the ability to learn other University-related software programs.

Five years of experience in construction industry as it relates to project management, carpentry, roofing, masonry, structural and civil categories.

A valid driver's license which will allow the legal operation of a motor vehicle in the State of Missouri is required.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $85,000 - $110,000 annually
