Job Description

The Saxena lab is seeking a motivated, flexible and team-oriented person who has either completed a Masters or a PhD in cellular/molecular sciences, preferably with at least 5 plus-year of experience as a lab technician. We are a translational lab conducting research in neurodegenerative diseases. Our research is based on underpinning early neurodegenerative mechanism in movement disorders.

To this end, we routinely employ induced pluripotent stem cells derived neurons as well as preclinical rodent models of disease to decipher and validate early pathological alterations and to specifically target those pathways by gene therapy.

The job responsibilities include culturing and maintaining iPSC-derived neuronal cultures routinely, which will then be analyzed via PCR, immunofluorescence and biochemical assays. Additionally, the Lab Supervisor will be responsible for cell culture, routine maintenance of mouse colony database, and genotyping assays as well as managing animal protocols according to the stipulated rules and laws.

Furthermore, the position requires supervision of lab members and general training in good cell culture practices as well as in the lab's biosafety concepts, and practical guidance on animal experimentation protocols. In addition, when advised the lab manager will specifically work together with other lab members, providing support for the completion of ongoing experiments and analyses of experimental data.

Shift

Monday thru Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

Applicant will have a Master's Degree or PhD in Cellular/Molecular Sciences plus five years of experience as a lab technician.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $50,367 - $64,860 per year

Grade: GGS-9E
