Job Description

Certified Dental Assistant II to assist in our student pre-doctoral clinic. This position is designed to provide community patient care as directed by the student doctors as well as provide patients with knowledge on proper oral care and dental hygiene. Successful candidates will be team-focused, problem solvers, known for their ability to build professional relationships with patients, students and faculty. Must have positive, proactive attitude. This position at UMKC will offer a benefit package for full time employees.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Assist students during dental patient care. Teach dental students the objectives of complete auxiliary utilization and four-handed dentistry. Help students' clean cubicles after patient care.
• Clean, disinfect and ready cubicles for patient care.
• Observe all safety, sterilization, dress code and OSHA and Infection Control guidelines.
• Keep CDA certification current by maintaining 12 hours of continuing education.
• Take X-rays as needed.
• Keeping day to day supplies in teams stocked at all times
• Answering questions or directing the appropriate questions to the doctors, students and supervisors.
• Assist in other areas on the clinic when applicable.
• Keep informed of new materials.

Minimum Qualifications

• A high school diploma and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired is necessary. Certifications as required by regulatory agencies is necessary.
• Certification by Dental Assistant National Board

Preferred Qualifications

• 1-3 years of chairside dental assisting experience is preferred.

Anticipated Hiring Range

$17.00 - $19.00 / hour, commensurate with education, experience, and internal equity
