Job Description

Executive Director of Innovation and Technology

The University of Missouri School of Dentistry (UMKC SOD) seeks applications for an extremely qualified individual to have the opportunity to be part of a dental school with a vision for the future involving innovation and technology into dental practice. Reporting to the Dean, the Director's primary role is to develop a vision for the entire school around innovation and technology by engaging with constituents to modernize the program and implement strategies to elevate the status of UMKC SOD as a premier institution with technology that impacts and improves patient care and learning experiences.

The position is a full-time, non-tenure track position at the Assistant/Associate/Professor level. The Assistant/Associate/Professor will meet our Strategic Pillar of creating a culture of innovation, using technology in an evidenced-based approach, to improve patient care. They will lead the Digital Dentistry Curriculum Committee with the goal of coordinating innovation and technology across the entire school, which includes dental hygiene, the pre-doctoral DDS program, and the Advanced Education Programs. This person will also lead the training of students, residents, and faculty to become familiar with these technological developments, implement their uses and evaluate outcomes to determine educational and patient care effectiveness.

At the university level, the Director will be the primary liaison of the UMKC SOD to work across disciplines and industry to foster a culture of innovation within UMKC and the SOD. In addition, they will help create and facilitate the development of continuing education programs that will be managed by the UMKC SOD for the benefit of the alumni and dentists in the community.

Furthermore, the following responsibilities are expected from the Director:

· Explore new technologies that can be applied to clinical dentistry in patient care that contributes to the UMKC SOD's mission and strategic plan and pillars.

· Chair the Digital Dentistry Program Committee in coordinating the use of innovation and technology across the different disciplines within the UMKC SOD and serve as liaison to the SOD Curriculum Committee.

· Work with other departments, Chairs, and Directors of programs, and the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs within the SOD, to create a cohesive plan of incorporating technology into the core curriculum, clinical and advanced educational programs that deliver care to patients.

· Designing different workflows for areas to achieve the mission and goals of the UMKC SOD.

· Design and supervise a Digital Design Center.

· Work across campus to create interdisciplinary collaborations and opportunities for the UMKC SOD to collaborate with other units of the university in innovation and the use of technology in dentistry.

Other Responsibilities: The Director may have the opportunity for clinical and patient care in the Dental Faculty Practice.

Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be a master clinician with excellent proficiency in Digital Dentistry technology. A track record in innovation and administrative experience also is desired. Previous experience working in an academic environment and advanced specialty training are preferred.

This is a 12-month, full-time, benefit-eligible, ranked non-tenure track faculty position with at-will administrative duties as the Executive Director. Start date is negotiable. Opportunity for ranked promotion is provided.
