Job Description

The part-time machinist-research engineering technician will perform horizontal and vertical CNC precision machining, and limited additional tasks associated with other shop functions supporting research & development efforts of the Missouri Institute for Defense & Energy, as well as for affiliate faculty in the School of Science & Engineering. Work will occasionally involve performing other standard machine shop tasks. No supervisory role or responsibilities are included in this part-time position.

Responsibilities

1. Shop operations

a. advise on initial designs

b. fabrication;

c. problem solving;

d. quality control;

e. equipment maintenance;

f. safety;

g. documentation

2. Fabrication;

3. Shop team member

Duties

1. Fabricate components and assemblies to the required quality standards and specifications;

2. Cross-train other technicians in WINMAX and PROTRAK conversational programming;

3. As member of the team, assist in keeping the shop organized, ensuring materials and equipment are properly stored and maintained;

4. Contribute, based upon experience and expertise, to improving and maintaining efficient scheduling and work-in-progress workflows.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Anticipated Hiring Range

Commensurate with experience, education, and internal equity.

This is part time position and would work up to 24 hours per week.
