Job Description

UMKC's Office of Admissions is seeking a dynamic self-motivated Strategic Student Correspondence Recruitment Manager, to oversee all Admissions digital and printed communication materials. The position will play a pivotal role in shaping the Office of Admissions communication strategies, managing various channels, and ensuring consistency and effectiveness in messaging. This position requires strong leadership skills to supervise the Admissions' Social Media Manager and student interns, in addition to managing communications sent from the university's CRM (Customer Relationship Management), Slate. Reporting to the Director of Admissions duties include, but are not limited to:

· Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies to support the goals and objectives of the Office of Admissions based on university data, trends, best practices, and market research.

· Assist in the creation, production, and distribution of digital and printed communication materials, including brochures, flyers, emails, newsletters, and social media content.

· Demonstrate excellent written and verbal/presentation skills and develop written communications for the Office of Admissions, working closely with our Marketing and Communications department.

· Ensure that all communication materials adhere to the university's branding guidelines and maintain a consistent tone and voice and track the effectiveness of those efforts.

· Supervise and mentor the social media manager and social media interns, providing guidance on content creation, scheduling, and engagement strategies across various platforms.

· Collaborate with the UMKC campus partners to understand their needs and objectives, and tailor communication strategies accordingly to effectively reach prospective students, applicants, and other stakeholders.

· Manage communication initiatives with academic units and campus partners focused on recruiting undergraduate and graduate students from diverse populations.

· Manage all digital and print communications sent from the university CRM software, Slate, including email campaigns, event invitations, and follow-up communications.

· Monitor and analyze the performance of communication efforts using relevant metrics and analytics tools and make data-driven recommendations for improvement.

· Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in communications and marketing, and integrate them into the university's communication strategies.

· Represent the Office of Admissions at university events, meetings, and conferences as needed.

· Maintain accurate reports related to the engagement of inquiries, applicants, and enrolled students with our communication efforts.

· Maintain Admissions communication inventory.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 4 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three years of experience in Admissions, Higher Education, Strategic Communications, or Marketing
  • Proven experience in communications, marketing, or public relations roles, preferably in a higher education setting.
  • Leadership experience with a demonstrated ability to supervise and mentor staff or interns.
  • Experience with student recruitment, managing and interpreting data, strategic planning, and data-informed decision making, and working independently
Anticipated Hiring Range

Up to $58,573 commensurate with education, experience, and internal equity.
