The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy (www.pharmacy.unc.edu) seeks an aspirational and collaborative leader to serve as Chair of the Division of Practice Advancement and Clinical Education. This is a unique opportunity for an individual to lead a world-class faculty in solving problems and driving change at the convergence of practice and education, where practitioners, educators, and scholars work alongside each other to accelerate the creation, implementation, and evaluation of innovations in healthcare delivery and education.

The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy (www.pharmacy.unc.edu) is one of six health science schools (Pharmacy, Nursing, Dentistry, Public Health, Medicine, Social) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is one of the oldest health science academic programs at Chapel Hill. The School teaches approximately 600 PharmD students and 145 graduate students. The School has built a reputation for its continued pursuit of excellence, rigorous education and training programs, cutting-edge multidisciplinary research, progressive pharmacy practices, efficient business operations, and its outstanding faculty, staff, and students. The School was named the number one School of Pharmacy in the U.S. by the U.S. News and World Report. The School has experienced unprecedented growth and success and continues to strategically position itself for sustained impact, as articulated in the School's Strategic Plan (https://pharmacy.unc.edu/about/oe/strategic-plan/).

The Division of Practice Advancement and Clinical Education (PACE) is one of five divisions in the School (https://pharmacy.unc.edu/divisions/). Through new partnerships across the state, nation, and globe; the recruitment of a diverse faculty with expertise and experience in advanced pharmacy practice as well as educational research, the Division has positioned itself for significant impact in practice, education, and research.

The PACE Division is comprised of approximately 27 full-time faculty, which represents 15 nontenure, clinical track faculty; 3 nontenure, teaching track faculty; 6 tenure track faculty; and 3 professors of the practice. Of the 27 faculty, 4 are based in Asheville, with the remaining 23 based in Chapel Hill.

A qualified candidate to serve as the Chair of PACE must possess the following: BS or MS degree. A qualified candidate must possess a strong track record of scholarship. The candidate must demonstrate great communication and interpersonal skills; the ability to develop collaborative and productive teams, to plan strategically and execute accordingly; be a team player, with experience managing, leading, and developing people; and be able to articulate and advocate a shared vision for advancing pharmacy practice, scholarship, and clinical education, and align with our School's WE CARE values.

A PharmD degree or PhD is preferred.

Demonstration of leadership and engagement in and sustained contributions to the practice of pharmacy, pharmacy education, and the scholarship of application and education is preferred. The most qualified candidate will already be at the Associate Professor level ready for promotion to Full Professor, or at the Full Professor level. In addition, the most qualified candidate will have demonstrated prior leadership and management experience or, at a minimum, be able to clearly articulate their motivation and potential to do so.
