The David C. Frederick Honors College (FHC) is looking for an innovative leader to serve as inaugural Director of our Office of Global Programs. The director will lead strategic development and implementation of global engagement, study abroad, and study away programs for the FHC. This will include oversight of an emerging academic partnership with University College Oxford, as well as programs located at the FHC’s Spring Creek Preserve outside of Laramie, Wyoming. Global engagement is a central pillar of the FHC experience, and the director will be responsible for leading efforts to universalize global learning experiences for all of the FHC’s 3000+ students. The successful candidate will serve on the senior leadership team for the Frederick Honors College and report directly to the Dean of the College. They will also work directly with the Director of the University of Pittsburgh’s Global Experience Office on budgets, contracts, marketing materials, and other administrative items and they will serve on Pitt GEOs central steering committee. The incumbent will manage a full-time FHC Coordinator of Study Abroad Programs, as well as a team of FHC student workers. They will have responsibility for awarding upwards of $500,000 of Study Abroad and Study Away Scholarships for FHC students on an annual basis.
Job Summary
Develops and ensures adherence to goals, objectives, policies, and procedures for international programs. Formulates strategic plans and measures performance against key indicators. Leads team, coordinates internal and external communications, and provides information pertaining to academic programs and support mechanisms. Formulates and monitors budgets and performs associated financial duties.Essential Functions

Creating a new complement of study abroad and study away options that provide FHC students and faculty with global engagement opportunities and that can be offered at scale
Managing existing FHC-administered programs including AbroadSelect, the Pitt in London Film School, and programs based at the Spring Creek Preserve
Supporting the development of international collaborations and partnerships, including those with University College Oxford
Leading the award of study abroad and study away scholarships for FHC students
Managing professional staff and student workers
Devising and enacting strategies to ensure that all FHC students have the knowledge of and ability to engage in meaningful global learning during their time at Pitt. This will necessitate the creation of new, affordable study abroad and study away options for short and long durations; the refinement of existing programs to expand capacity; and the development of global research, global service-learning and COIL programs
Interfacing regularly with the other FHC staff members and working collaboratively on all programs, research activities, and special events
Physical Effort
Primarily sedentary. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment. Must have the ability and willingness to travel off-site, including internationally, as part of program development and management
