School of Dental Medicine Orthodontics Department laboratory is seeking a laboratory assistant to perform a variety of experiments and procedures including working with mice, preparing specimens, overseeing supply management, and operating and properly maintaining equipment.


Job Summary

Performs a variety of laboratory experiments and procedures. Prepares specimens. Oversees supply management. Operates and properly maintains equipment.


Essential Functions

Performs a variety of laboratory experiments such as histology, flow cytometry, molecular techniques, gene sequencing, and related technical functions, testing, troubleshooting, and analysis, and may perform microsurgical procedures. Ensures conformity to specifications.

The candidate must identify and prepare specimens; oversee supply management: ordering, procurement, tracking estimates, and receiving items; operate and maintain applicable laboratory equipment for job functions; keep detailed, accurate, and timely data and log books; organize and documents results; and maintain, calibrate, clean, and test laboratory equipment.


Physical Effort

Moderate physical effort required:

  • May be required to stand/move for several hours at a time.
  • May be required to move objects up to 50 pounds with or without assistance of equipment.
