Appointment:
The Chemistry department at the University of Puget Sound invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor position to begin Fall term 2024.

Responsibilities:
Teaching responsibilities will be primarily in introductory chemistry courses and labs, with additional teaching responsibilities depending on the successful candidate's area(s) of expertise. This position involves teaching, on average, 3 units* per semester (Fall and Spring). Supervision of undergraduate research is welcomed. The department has a healthy demand for classes from students and maintains a vibrant research culture with undergraduate students.

*Units are equivalent to one course.

Qualifications:
It is preferred that candidates have a PhD in Chemistry by the start of appointment and a strong commitment to teaching undergraduates. Candidates who are close to completing their PhD or Master's level with teaching experience will also be considered.

Faculty salaries at the University of Puget Sound are based on a common salary scale based on experience. Assistant Professor salaries for 2023-24 begin at $71,492 annualized in their first year of full-time post-doctorate teaching through $80,003 annualized based on experience. ($70,992 to $79,503 for ABD.) Salaries for candidates with Master's degrees begin at $57,063 and go through $70,992 depending on prior teaching experience.
