University Housing within the Division of Student Life invites applications for the position of Craft Specialist III. The Craft Specialist III works as a maintenance technician within residence halls affecting repairs of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.

The Position: The maintenance technician will be responsible for daily work orders as assigned by the maintenance supervisor. These include any maintenance issues in residential spaces to include plumbing, electrical, appliance, and HVAC repairs. The technician will also be responsible for preventive maintenance tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities:

· Perform specialized and skilled craft work in plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry, laundry equipment; Operate any and all equipment necessary to carry out required maintenance functions.

· Maintain records of time and materials used for billing/budget purposes

· Coordinate work to be performed in construction and renovations of facilities and equipment.

· Provide technical guidance and direction to designated personnel; Inspect completed work, and direct re-work or modifications.

· Check motor bearings for excessive vibrations, signs of wear and need for adjustment; Conduct inspections of buildings and equipment rooms for operational malfunctions.

Qualifications :

What We Require

Education: High School Diploma or GED

Experience: 6 years of experience in the fields of preventative maintenance and construction.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

· Thorough knowledge of and proficiency in modern construction principles and techniques

· Knowledge of successful preventative maintenance programs and services, and the ability to execute same

· Ability to work within tight deadlines and schedules

· Strong written and verbal communication skills

· Ability to work with diverse customer and employee bases

What We Prefer:

Education: Vocational or technical training

Experience:

· EPA 608 Universal Certification

· Thorough knowledge of and proficiency in modern construction principles and techniques

· Knowledge of successful preventative maintenance programs and services, and the ability to execute same

Salary: The salary for this position is commensurate with experience and other qualifications and is accompanied by a standard university benefits package. This is a full-time staff position.
