The Facilities & Operations department at the University of Tennessee Space Institute in Tullahoma, Tennessee is seeking a UTSI Custodian (Facilities Services Buildings and Grounds Assistant 1, MR01) at $15 per hour, regular, full-time with excellent benefits.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Performs a variety of duties involving cleaning and general housekeeping of assigned areas. Workdays Monday through Friday and hours 4:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
- Operates light equipment such as vacuums, shampooers, extractors, buffers, and scrubbers.
- Cleans and sanitizes floors, windows, restrooms, walls, and furniture in offices and institutional buildings and facilities.
- Strips and waxes floors.
- Restocks supplies.
- Empties and sanitizes garbage containers and removes recyclables/trash to disposal areas.
- Mixes and utilizes cleaning solutions and chemicals.
- Candidate must be capable of doing strenuous work and able to lift, move, and work with heavy objects and wear provided PPE.
- Candidate must be able to perform repeated bending, standing, and reaching and climb ladders.
- Must be comfortable with heights as a lift will be used for certain parts of the job.
- Must be a self-starter, able to work independently as well as with others and be a team player.
- Must be able to follow directions and take safety and other courses related to the position.
- Must be able to work flexible hours upon request.
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and dependable transportation.
- Must be 18 or older and pass a background check.
- Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
- Must be reliable in attendance, clean and neat in appearance.
- Candidate must be capable of doing strenuous work and able to lift, move, and work with heavy objects.
- Candidate must be able to perform repeated bending, standing, and reaching and climb ladders.
- Prefers high school education or GED.
- Experience in commercial type cleaning and general housekeeping.
