The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing is seeking candidates for an Associate Dean for Research, whose experience will enable them to provide leadership for the School's research mission. This position will report to the Dean of the School of Nursing. Associate Dean for Research applications received before December 1, 2023, will receive first consideration, but applications will be accepted until the position is filled.

This is for a full-time position with a 50% administrative staff (Associate Dean) appointment and 50% faculty appointment. The faculty appointment will be at a rank consistent with qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing leadership, vision, and integrity in the shaping of School of Nursing research policy and training.

  • Mentoring or consulting all faculty on research issues and processes. Provide leadership during grant proposal development and implementation process.

  • Working with Finance Manager and Assistant Dean for Administration to ensure compliance and facilitate financial planning.

  • Serving as a liaison between the School of Nursing and other Colleges, Schools, and Units on campus.

  • Serving as School's Liaison to Office of Sponsored Projects and Vice President of Research

  • Serving as liaison and point of contact with external agencies.

  • Developing relationships with federal grant points of contact.

  • Overseeing the functioning of the Cain Center for Nursing Research through supervising and monitoring of staff in the delivery of research and grant support services.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications

    Doctoral degree (e.g., PhD). Experience managing research programs and a solid history of successful grant writing and submission. The ability to mentor faculty with a focus on faculty research and grantsmanship. Innovative ideas for expanding the research program. Experience working collaboratively with others and in developing professional alliances, impeccable oral and written communication skills, and proven problem-solving skills.

    Preferred Qualifications: Current licensure as a professional registered nurse. Evidence of success in an extramurally funded program of research and national recognition as a leader in the field. Experience managing large research programs, such as centers, departments, and large and complex research grants. Expertise in federal grant finance and compliance. The ability to evaluate research proposals and apply improvements. Strong team leadership skills.
