Job Summary

The College of Social and Behavioral Science is the largest college at the University of Utah and consistently graduates the most students of any on campus. The college seeks a detail-oriented, self-motivated, and creative individual to help steward its donors, under the direction of the college's Senior Director of Advancement. The Donor Relations & Stewardship Specialist will manage a robust stewardship program that furthers long-term engagement and high-value interactions with donors, including scholarship management, impact reporting, gift recognition, and events.

Responsibilities
  • Manage college's scholarships, including the application process, making and tracking awards, supporting selection committees, and maintaining accurate information about criteria and supporters;
  • Manage donor acknowledgments and reporting, including weekly thank you's, impact reports, and annual giving recognition;
  • Collaborate with the annual giving coordinator to plan and execute stewardship on giving campaigns, including annual appeals, U Giving Day, and mini-giving campaigns;
  • Collaborate w/ marketing & communications team to ensure all stewardship communications reflect the college brand and overall development and alumni relations strategy;
  • Provide excellent customer service to donors, alumni, students, and college department and program scholarship administrators;
  • Assist college events team with development-related events;
  • Assist the college finance team with the reconciliation of scholarship awards and gifts;
  • Identify and maintain information on donors from university alumni and donor database.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); and demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills required. Experience which includes fundraising, grant and publication writing, planning and implementing special events and programs and a successful track record in raising donations is preferred.

  • Able to handle and prioritize multiple tasks in an organized manner, strong writing skills and the ability to proofread and edit content;
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) and databases;
  • High ethical standards, discretion and confidentiality in working with donor information, collaborative in approach and open to new concepts and ideas;
  • Ability to problem solve in a fast-paced environment
