Job Summary

The Human Resource Analyst will be a member of the University of Utah Human Resource Management team working closely with an Associate Human Resources Director, a Human Resources Specialist, and several peer Analysts.

The Human Resource Analyst will be assigned a number of functional areas on campus (colleges or departments), and will act as the first point of contact for Human Resources transactional needs. The primary Human Resources services provided are related to recruitment and job posting, pre-hire checks, onboarding, and processing employment changes. Other Human Resources services provided may include, but not be limited to benefits, payroll, compensation, and employee relations.

This position is hybrid, so the incumbent will be required to work at least 2 days per week on campus, in or near the assigned departments, and will telecommute the rest of the week.

Responsibilities
  • Provides advice and consultation to University administrators, staff, and faculty regarding recruitment, hiring, onboarding, employment changes, policies, and procedures, and is a resource to address Human Resource-related questions and problems.
  • Assists with recruitment efforts to support hiring departments.
  • Participates in the development and delivery of Human Resource processes and programs, as well as recommending modifications of Human Resource practices to management, and develops, coordinates, and implements changes as needed.
  • Completes employment transactions for staff and faculty and ensures the integrity of data.
  • Captures, analyzes, and reports on Human Resource trends, business processes, market data, and other Human Resource information to best support departments.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations
  • Uses independent judgment to handle and resolve customer service needs and address confidential situations in a professional manner.
  • Facilitates meetings, group discussions, and projects

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, related field, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); two years of progressively more responsible experience in Human Resources; analyzing, presenting data, and developing customer relations.
  • Demonstrated computer (MS Office: Excel/ Word/ Outlook), human relations, and effective communication skills required.

Preferences

Experience with PeopleSoft, PeopleAdmin, and other HRIS systems preferred.
