Job Summary

This position provides assistive care to patients in the Dermatology and/or Allergy clinic. This includes collection and preparation of specimens for the laboratory. It maintains accurate medical records.
This position may work at multiple clinic locations.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions
  • Obtains blood specimens by established venipuncture and capillary techniques.
  • Labels samples, sends specimens to the laboratory for analysis, and completes essential records.
  • Maintains record of tests performed.
  • Performs additional skills such as injections (Subq and intra-dermal)
  • Enters and retrieves computer data.
  • May perform Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) Waved Lab tests as identified by department and reports results to the appropriate personnel.
  • Attends and completes mandatory education including infection prevention and control, safety, CPR, equipment usage and procedures according to hospital and department policies.
  • May perform other duties based on department assigned.

  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
  • Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit.
  • Knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding the patient's status and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures manual.
Minimum Qualifications

Required
Phlebotomy Technician certification or equivalency (six months of phlebotomy experience).
This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements. We protect our patients, coworkers and community by requiring all patient-sensitive employees to be immunized according to CDC standards and hospital policy. Limited exemptions may be made for documented medical contraindications or religious beliefs that object to vaccinations.
