Job Summary
  • The focus of this position is to be part of our server administration team as a system administrator, within the Computing and Technology Group at Huntsman Cancer Institute.
  • Works within our team environment to support, install and monitor core IT infrastructure that are primarily on-premises, but may include some cloud computing responsibilities in the future.
  • Manages, plans, and installs new software releases and system upgrades for operating systems and applications, and related projects by developing test and implementation plans along with project timelines.
  • Follow up and coordinate with customers, internal staff, and vendors as required.
  • Will be part of our rotating 247 on-call system administration coverage.
  • Document equipment configurations, procedures, and guidelines in order to provide accurate information related to IT services.
  • Perform regular security monitoring and auditing on system resources to identify possible security issues.

Responsibilities
  • Requires demonstrated communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment, with both other IT professionals and with customer groups.
  • Customers include institute leadership, physicians, research scientists, healthcare professionals, and administrative staff, along with our and other IT groups within Huntsman Cancer Institute. This support requires a high level of interpersonal skill and the ability to work within a varied, demanding environment.
  • Because of the fluid nature of IT technologies, this job will involve additional / changing responsibilities in the future.
  • Required skill sets: Windows Server, Hyper-V virtualization server, File server permissions administration,
  • Desirable skill sets: System Center Operations Manager, DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, VMware, Linux, SharePoint, Teams, Outlook, M365 support, data center operations,
  • This position will require on-call and after-hours support on an as-needed basis.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) with at least 2 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
