The Division of Plastic Surgery, Department of Surgery at the University of Washington
School of Medicine invites applications for a full-time academic Pediatric Plastic and Craniofacial Surgeon at the rank of Assistant Professor WOT (without tenure). Appointments as Assistant Professor WOT are normally structured per University guidelines as two consecutive 3-year terms followed by review for promotion to Associate Professor WOT. Assistant Professors WOT are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1 – June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. This full-time, 12-month service period will include clinical activities at both Seattle Children’s Hospital and University of Washington Harborview Medical Center. Salary and rank will be commensurate with training, qualifications, and experience, with an expected start date in Fall 2024.

 

The successful candidate will become the sixth full-time member of the Division of Pediatric Plastic Surgery based at Seattle Children’s Hospital (SCH). The primary clinical practice at SCH will include treatment of cleft lip and palate, congenital and developmental jaw anomalies, and general pediatric reconstructive surgery.  The secondary site of practice will be at Harborview Medical Center, with a focus on the acute and secondary facial trauma treatment and management of congenital craniomaxillofacial deformities in adults.  Commensurate with training and interests of the applicant, other clinical practice combinations may be possible, including craniofacial microsurgery. All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service. 

 

At the rank of Assistant Professor 32,(WOT), the base salary range for this position will be: $31,008 - $32,267 per month ($372,096 - $387,204 annually). Base salaries at all ranks will be commensurate with candidate experience and qualifications. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the Children's University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Other compensation associated with this position may include variable incentive through CUMG. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by Children's University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • MD (or foreign equivalent) Board-certified or eligible to achieve certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (or foreign equivalent) Eligible for medical licensure in state of Washington Prospective candidate will have successfully completed a craniofacial surgery fellowship recognized by the American Society of Craniofacial Surgery (or foreign equivalent) that includes training in the management of acute and secondary craniomaxillofacial trauma surgery, orthognathic surgery, and pediatric plastic surgery.

 

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
