Position Primary Purpose and General Duties:

The Daytime Information Services Supervisor reports directly to the Head of Access Services and works with the department's managerial staff to supervise and participate in overall Access Services operations at James Branch Cabell Library. Access Services introduces VCU community members to library services, staff, and information resources that advance their academic success and research endeavors. We seek to educate patrons so that they may become sophisticated, independent library users and information consumers. This position directly supervises a core team of five full-time staff focused on both information services and interlibrary loan and serves as the lead information services departmental expert in Alma (VCU Libraries' service platform), circulation, patron records, billing, investigations, and holds.

General responsibilities include but are not limited to:

● Supervising, hiring, and training full-time Information Associates who work in the daytime.

● Participating in the development of training materials and/or guidelines for services.

● Serving as Alma departmental liaison with the Enterprise System Librarian, advocating for services and reporting any necessary updates.

● Verifying Alma payment receipts, reconciling lost item payments, and removing library holds in Banner in accordance with VCUL standards.

● Responding to patron inquiries by staffing point-of-need services such as the Cabell Library Information Desk, chat, text, and email.

● Ensuring training happens with the Evening Information Services Supervisor for back-up responsibilities.

● Providing access to a variety of library materials including books and media and directing patrons to electronic resources.

● Having a basic understanding of ILL policies and procedures for borrowing, document delivery, and lending.

● Providing support to the outreach team, including but not limited to, giving library tours and tabling library events.

● Serving as the Access Services representative on the Resource Access Policies Committee and other VCU Library committees as needed.

The work schedule will be Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm. This schedule may be subject to change based on departmental need and may occasionally be asked to work outside normal scheduled hours, including some nights and weekends. During periods of time when classes are not in session, the schedule could be adjusted to accommodate building hours. Lastly, this position is designated as essential, and may be required to work in instances where the university is closed but Cabell Library remains open.

It is critical that the Daytime Information Services Supervisor reports to work on time, works a complete shift, and exhibits a positive and cooperative attitude as well as excellent customer service. •Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Preferred Hiring Standards:

• Academic library experience.
• Experience providing circulation services.
• Experience providing research assistance/reference services.
• Experience with interlibrary loan and document delivery services.
• Experience developing training manuals and/or guidelines for services.

Salary Range: $50,800- $62,000
