Lab and Research Technician, School of Medicine / Pathology

Summary

A Lab & Research Technician position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Senthil Radhakrishnan in the Department of Pathology at Virginia Commonwealth University, School of Medicine. The successful candidate chosen for this position will participate in National Institutes of Health (NIH) and American Cancer Society (ACS)-funded projects focusing on the role of cellular protein degradation pathways in cancer using cell culture and mouse tumor models.

Major responsibilities in this position include performing mammalian cell culture, and assays such as western blots, qPCR and other related biochemical techniques. Minor responsibilities include working with mice cancer models and processing the tumor tissues. In addition, the candidate must participate in the design and performance of research projects, be able to report and interpret results to the principal investigator, other laboratory staff and students, as well as assisting other staff and troubleshooting experiments and instrument problems. Also, the candidate must be able to maintain detailed records of results from the experiments.

Required Qualifications
At least 1 year of experience working in a medical science research laboratory.
Some experience performing cell culture studies.
Some experience performing molecular biology/biochemical assays.
Good organizational skills and the ability to work in a team environment.

Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff employee at VCU

Preferred Qualifications

A bachelor's degree in a biological field is highly preferred
