Job Summary/Basic Function:

Position Overview
Under the general direction of the Director of Annual Giving, the Data Analyst & Coordinator is responsible for the coordination, execution, and analysis of all data requirements associated with the annual giving and mid-level donor programs to increase participation and long-term financial growth from individual donors. The incumbent will use data modeling to generate advanced segmentation that will support direct marketing initiatives, fundraising volunteers, and the identification of leads to grow the mid-level donor pipeline. This position will work with individual users to design, code, and test reports and determine specific reporting requirements, working collegially with colleagues in Advancement Operations and Prospect Management and Research when necessary. They will be responsible for generating reports and dashboards and performing data analysis to evaluate annual giving activity for the Director.

Key Roles & Responsibilities
  • Assist the Director of Annual Giving in providing data points to establish data-driven fundraising goals, objectives, strategies, schedules, and analysis of results for each element of the annual giving program. Works with large data sets and generates analytical reports that inform the office on campaign performance, donor performance, giving behaviors, and more. Generates regular dashboard reports that monitor progress toward donor and dollar goals.
  • Manipulates donor data to prepare sophisticated segmentation of direct marketing and volunteer lists,ensuring high personalization while maintaining data integrity. Analyzes data regarding annual giving programs and past giving trends to provide analyses of program results and plan for advanced segmentation; coordinates with the Director and Senior Associate Director on executing the segmentation recommendations.
  • Work with the Annual Giving Team and Advancement Operations to maintain and update donor and gift records to ensure that accurate reporting can occur.
  • Interfaces with Annual Giving vendors on a day-to-day basis; evaluates vendor partnerships on an annual basis under the guidance of the Director. Manages data flow for the online giving platform, matching gift software, and other key technology platforms. Additionally, explore emerging technologies to best meet College Advancement fundraising goals and, if appropriate, lead implementation of said technology.
  • Attend department, division, and campus-wide meetings. Attend and appropriately staff division-wide events and programs for students, alumni, parents, and friends. Some night and weekend work is required, especially during Advancement events, Family & Friends Weekend, Fall Fest, and Commencement/Reunion.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of higher education or non-profit experience, including experience working in a constituent database (CRM), preferably Raiser's EdgeNXT.
  • Strong database marketing or online fundraising experience, including segmentation management, a well-developed sense of audience needs, and the ability to synthesize disparate concepts into unifying themes.
  • Thorough understanding of structuring data for reporting and analyzing for meaning, including the ability to measure success and outcomes and make data-driven recommendations.
  • Working knowledge of how to read graphs & charts and use analysis tools (Excel, Google Analytics, Web Focus Mission BI) and relationship management software (Raiser's Edge).
  • Demonstrated problem-solver with experience working collaboratively with partners.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to move a group to actionable decisions through inclusive methods.
  • Highly developed analytical and communication skills, including the ability to successfully communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Familiarity with online technologies and ability to learn new skills relevant to fundraising, including email platforms (MyEmma), online giving platforms (GiveCampus), and matching gift platforms (Double the Donation).
Preferred Qualifications:

Relational databases or CRMs.

The hourly rate for this position is $27.00 – $28.00 / hour.
