Cooperates with the board and administration in implementing all policies, procedures, and directives governing the operation of the school.

Teaches classes as assigned, following the prescribed scope and sequence as scheduled by the administrator.

Integrates Biblical principles and the Christian philosophy of education throughout the curriculum as directed by the administrator.

Keeps proper discipline in the classroom and on the school premises to achieve a successful learning environment.

Maintains a clean, attractive, and well-ordered classroom.

Plans lessons broadly through the use of semester and quarterly plans and objectives, and narrowly through the use of a lesson plan book.

Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students, challenging each to do his or her best work.

Utilizes valid teaching techniques to achieve curriculum goals within the framework of the school's philosophy.

Employs a variety of instructional aids, methods, and materials that will provide for creative teaching to reach the whole child: spiritual, mental, physical, social, and emotional.

Plans through approved channels the balanced classroom use of field trips, guest speakers, and other media.

Uses homework effectively for drill, review, enrichment, or project work.

Assesses the learning of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.

Maintains regular and accurate attendance and grade records to meet the demands for a comprehensive knowledge of each student's progress.

Keeps students, parents, and the administration adequately informed of progress or deficiencies and gives sufficient notice of failure.

Recognizes the need for good public relations. Represents the school in a favorable and professional manner to the school's constituency and the general public.

Develops and maintains rapport with students, parents, and staff by treating others with friendliness, dignity, and consideration.

Follows the Matthew 18 principle in dealing with conflict with students, parents, staff, and administration.

Seeks the counsel of the administration, colleagues, and parents while maintaining a teachable attitude.

Attends and participates in scheduled devotional, in-service, retreats, committee, faculty, and Parent Teacher Fellowship meetings.

Knows the procedures for dealing with emergency situations.

Informs the administration in a timely manner if unable to fulfill any duty assigned. Prepares adequate information and materials for a substitute teacher.

Must be a 'born-again' Christian who knows the Lord Jesus as Savior.

Must be a Christian role model to students, parents, and fellow staff, both in and out of school.

Must meet the moral integrity standards and Christian role model lifestyle requirements of Young Americans Christian School.

Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in education or related field.
-
ACSI certified or certifiable.

Good verbal and written communication skills
